Story so far
Mordecai describes Tough Love as kin to the anti-alcohol potion he gave Louis and Firas on the fifth floor, but with a long brew time — he started it back on the previous floor and it only reaches potency now, then goes stale fast. Compounded with two hits of Glory Bound and a subdermal gel, it is what converts a pleasant memory-trip into a forced reckoning.
For Katia, that means she will not simply relive her favorite memory as she did the first time; she will be made to face something from her past that she cannot avoid, which is the only way to clear the physical effects of her addiction. Carl deliberately does not ask what that memory is, judging it her business alone.
