Power Siphon

Story so far

When Carl and Donut find themselves sealed inside the Nest by a second Anti-Escape Trap Net, Baroness Victory snaps her fingers and names the culprit: Power Siphon. The absorption jewels used in the towers of Larracos leak energy of all kinds, and the trap is quietly feeding on the active towers still firing on the funnel. Victory admits she should have known Lucia Mar had the ability — it explains how the girl powers the dozens of standing magical triggers she leaves scattered everywhere she goes — and calls the trick genius rather than merely clever. Fopsy agrees.

The practical consequence is brutal: the net will not drop until the other towers stop shooting or Lucia turns it off herself, and Lucia is off the playing field. Donut, wearing Donut's Sunglasses in the correct mode, can see the power flowing from the towers down to a single spot on the ground far below, where a marble-sized trigger jewel sits waiting to be picked up.

Role

The mechanism keeping Lucia Mar's abandoned trap alive without her.
