Thirteenth-edition annotator of the cookbook whose note on protection spells opens the chapter.
Crawler Allister contributed the 13th Edition note to the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook that heads this chapter, cataloguing the Protection Spells and ranking Immortality as generally the best and hardest to obtain. He details what it does and does not do, warns that injuries must be healed before it expires, and recommends pairing it with Numb because pain with no respite takes its own toll.
He recounts watching a swarm of Immortal Rats board another crawler's barge, needing hammers to crush and keep them at bay while their little demon heads were pulped and they still struggled to attack; their pained squeals still haunt him. He closes by naming a card in his T'Ghee Deck — Open Wound, who teaches that suffering leaves scars — which is why the Immortality condition scares him. Carl recalls the note directly while looking at the burning, undying bugs.
Cookbook contributor whose warning about immortality frames the entire chapter.
