The between-floors ritual where crawlers get thirty seconds and a menu of new classes - now shipping with costume accessories - held in a warehouse that is emptier every time.
Every crawler who reaches the ninth floor goes through class selection again. Donut has thirty seconds to pick both a card to keep and a new class, and shouts the options at Mordecai as she scrolls: Consecrated Enchantress with a sash, Halloween Aficionado with black lipstick and a boxcutter, and finally Deathbed Hellcat with a hat and a Ghillie Suit. Her running commentary notes the change: 'THEY'RE ADDING ACCESSORIES TO MY CHOICES NOW!'
Mordecai's advice is strategic rather than aesthetic - avoid any deity-themed class, because the floor will be full of gods and god-themed quests. Elle reports going through selection in a warehouse with only a few of them present this time, picking wind and moving from Tundra Princess to Hailstorm Queen, and observes that elemental classes cap until the twelfth floor.
Upgrades preserve most existing spells, so a class change is a re-specialisation rather than a reset. And the thirty-second timer means the single most consequential build decision of a floor is made in a panic, in the mud, while reading aloud.
Partly conducted in a warehouse where crawlers gather - and where the crowd is visibly thinner each floor.
The mechanic that resets every crawler's build between floors, and the source of Donut's new sniper class.
