Gentle, childlike fey servants of an ice castle, slaughtered on orders that Justice Light still cannot explain.
Ice elves are the NPC servants who filled the ice castle Justice Light and Dante were assigned to guard during their Indentureship. More fairy than elf, they stand as tall as a human but are slender enough that a skyfowl can close a single talon around their waists — gentle, simple, innocent creatures, nothing like regular High Elves. Over the weeks the two guards watched the castle they became friends; Justice knew all their names. They played in the snow like children, and they loved puzzles, as Justice's own children had.
At the end of the floor, with no crawler ever having arrived, Damien ordered the guards to kill every one of them. It was all off camera, and Justice still does not understand why it was asked. Dante refused and was erased; Justice refused once, was warned, and then obeyed. They did not fight back. Jessica carries their form in her changeling library from a life spent among them lifetimes ago, and confirms they are exactly as gentle as Justice remembers. Justice's recurring dream is that they killed themselves first to spare him — a mercy that never happened.
Human-height but delicately slender, more fairy than elf, pale and fey-featured, dressed as castle servants and at home in the snow.
The murdered innocents at the heart of Justice Light's guilt and the reason he refuses to stay afraid.
