Crocodilian former crawler and Justice Light's friend, erased by the AI for refusing to murder the ice elves.
Dante was Justice Light's next-door neighbor when Justice began his Indentureship, a crocodilian who had also finished the dungeon and who shared Justice's burning distaste for the position they found themselves in. The two spent several hundred cycles as merchants before the system reassigned them as NPC castle guards outside an ice castle, told only to keep the peace and not to stop crawlers from entering. No crawler ever came, and Damien told them they could return to their old assignments — after one last task.
The task was to kill every Ice Elf servant in the castle, gentle creatures the two guards had come to know by name over weeks of watching them play in the snow. Dante looked up into the air and refused. They ordered him a second time and he refused again. There was no third warning: a beam came from the sky and erased him as if he had never existed, an execution by The AI rather than the usual Hardshells. He was almost free when he died. Justice, who obeyed on the second order and lost a wing anyway, holds Dante as proof that there is no such thing as the point of no return — 'he died free.'
A crocodilian humanoid, described only as Justice Light's neighbor and fellow guard; his final image is of him looking up into the sky as the beam takes him.
The friend whose defiant death became the moral center of Justice Light's plan.
