Backup Generator
Once the silo’s reserve power source, the backup generator now powers the digger and has restored lights in Silo 17.
Story so far
The Backup Generator was initially dismantled for gasket replacement, leaving Juliette concerned about the consequences of a main-generator failure. It was brought online while the main generator refit was planned.
Much later, measurements showed that it fit the Digger’s mounts. Juliette believed it had been intended to power the machine’s departure, although removing the backup left the whole silo vulnerable to a breakdown. She required servicing before installation because the low ceiling would block later access to its heads and seals. The refugees brought the generator into the Neighboring Silo, and the genset in the digger has now started, restoring lighting there.
