Skarn

the telescope kid

The young changeling entrepreneur whose farseer telescope Carl borrows (and Donut steals), and who rallies the town's children.

Story so far

Skarn, the young changeling running a charge-to-look telescope business, is central to the bombardment prep: Carl visits him under the pretext of a check-in while Princess Donut scales the roof and swipes his Gnomish farseer telescope in ten seconds flat — Carl meant to leave thirty gold as payment, but Donut "forgot." Carl uses the scope to hunt Ruckus. Told to bring his friends to the Toe (not the fake safe rooms Flint recommends) when the bombs fall, Skarn negotiates a gold piece each. When the children gather, he helps herd them into the party's personal space, cheerfully commanding, "Okay, everyone follow Mr. Carl," and keeps pressing Carl for the promised coins.

Appearance

A changeling child who shifts between forms, including a creepy human-child shape; small and mercenary-minded.

Role

A child changeling entrepreneur and reluctant helper, wrangling the town's kids into shelter.
