Nebulars

Nebular Team · Nebs

The pacifist-but-genocidal Nebular sect worships the stable inner-system AI and sponsors both Ysalte and Sister Ines.

Story so far

The Nebulars worship an ancient, stable AI whose benign enhancement zone covers several inner-system solar systems. They consider attempts to replicate it blasphemous.

Outside the dungeon they are radical pacifists, but inside they compete in the Hunting Grounds and Celestial Ascendency. They want a crawl of their own while publicly seeking to shut crawls down, destroy every world capable of hosting one, exterminate its population, and eradicate other religions.

They repeatedly pursue an Ascendency victory because its prizes include a seat on the Syndicate crawl council. Their recent sponsorship of both Ysalte and Sister Ines suggests a connection Carl does not yet understand.

Appearance

Alien devotees beneath a vast impersonal AI halo, peaceful robes splitting into armored dungeon avatars.

Role

The Nebulars provide the sponsor-level link between Sister Ines and Ysalte.

Relationships

Inner-System AI — They worship it as the only legitimate divine intelligence.
Ysalte — They have recently sponsored her.
Sister Ines Quiteria — They also sponsor her, possibly to convert or punish her.
Syndicate Crawl Council — They seek a seat through the Celestial Ascendency.
