character

Ysalte

Vinegar Bitch · Downward Spiral · Goddess of Hopelessness and Insanity

The invulnerable level-250 goddess manifests through Ines's corpse, tries to punish Louis, and seizes the newly restored Amayon as her enslaved retainer.

Story so far

Ines's dissolving corpse becomes Ysalte, a young-faced dwarf with a pickaxe and a candle helmet whose fuse-like flame sparks. Her face flickers into a silent scream. Though sponsored by Pontifex Shine, the sponsor is not inhabiting her shell, so she acts according to her own volatile nature.

Ysalte tells Louis that Ines's death brought the bard peace but interrupted plans for her. Samantha distracts her with an old insult about Ysalte's child, and the goddess's pickaxe rebounds harmlessly from the invulnerable doll head.

The encounter reshapes FOCSA into an open arena. Amayon's forced transformation leaves him stronger but still marked Enslaved under Ysalte. The new quest reveals she intends to take her former lover and child's father to the Ascendency as a retainer.
