Ghommids

Ghommid

Ghommid is a broad term for wildly varied other-realm spirits that enter from the land of the dead and settle wherever the veil between worlds becomes thin.

Story so far

Ghommids are not one consistent species. Their forms and behaviors vary as dramatically as microscopic organisms in seawater, and some individuals are unique.

Most are ordinarily harmless, cute, angry, mischievous, or otherwise idiosyncratic rather than uniformly hostile. They tend to establish settlements around thin points between worlds, including cemeteries.

The Medium Ghommid Settlement eventually implodes when a new spirit corrupts its entire population. Former workers become ravenous unsettled versions retaining only fragments of their old identities and roles.

Appearance

An impossible variety of spirit bodies, from mouth-covered humanoids and long-chinned elves to tiny minotaurs and hand-walking giants.

Role

Ghommids are the settlement's original people and the corrupted victims the party may be able to cure.

Relationships

Medium Ghommid Settlement — They inhabit the cemetery's thin-veil community.
Unsettled Ghommids — Corruption transforms residents into these hostile forms.
Kipper — He is one named resident and former dishwasher.
