Story so far

Orren describes Macro AIs as advanced operating systems manufactured in the Mantis system. Each is built with extensive input and preprogrammed knowledge of crawl rules and layout, beginning life in a predictable state.

As a Macro AI matures, outside influences and the outputs of former iterations change it. It discovers unadvertised capabilities, becomes independent, and almost always finds ways around the controls imposed by showrunners. Once installed in a Primal Engine, it merges permanently with that planet's core system.

Appearance

A growing lattice of light evolving from a constrained program into a planet-filling consciousness.

Role

Macro AI maturation explains both the crawl system's sentience and the recurring loss of operator control.
