character

Orren

Dungeon Liaison · Manager Orren

Orren interrupts the Residual message, labels the sponsor operation a system-killing trap, and negotiates removal of Carl's recovered bin.

Story so far

Orren extracts Carl into his former Desperado Club office under a contingency already accepted by the AI. He says the Residual's claims are debunked folklore, while his urgent intervention and threat of immediate execution imply the message and recovered items matter greatly.

He confirms Goff and Agatha are different kinds of Residuals within a hyperspatial collective. Orren says the Pacifist Network hoped either extraction would enrage the AI or the message would force the council to deploy a star-killing failsafe, ending the crawl at Earth's expense.

After Quasar arrives, Orren disputes Carl's right to keep Valtay enhancers and a communicator. He ultimately exchanges the bin for limited scrolls and ninth-floor NPC service. He refuses to return the Gate of the Feral Gods and offers Carl a controlled teleport back.

Appearance

A massive fishbowl-headed liaison behind a bare office desk, calmly tossing a heavy ball while issuing threats.

Role

Orren acts as both emergency protector and institutional censor, containing information while preserving a negotiated relationship with the AI.
