character

Herot

A former crawler who authored the 16th edition of the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook and theorized the 'Worn Path Method.'

Story so far

Herot is a past crawler and author of the 16th edition of the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook, which Carl carries and studies. Her long closing essay lays out the Worn Path Method — the theory that quests and puzzles crack open far more easily when a crawler deliberately breaks the fourth wall on the floor's NPCs, who are the world's weakest link because they are biological rather than autonomous. Reading her advice mid-floor, Carl uses it on the HR associate Madison to shatter her thin false memories and pull the truth of the Terminus trap out of her, resolving to finish Herot's essay when his scarce reading time allows.
