Story so far
Carl names the cookbook, alongside Mordecai and the post-interview chats with Odette, as one of the three things that have done the most to keep the team alive, which makes Loita's new censorship regime especially dangerous now that the Odette pipeline is being closed off.
Studying Loita's dahlia pin, Carl notes that the cookbook sorely lacks any record of faction symbols. He has already sketched the Syndicate's sigil and several others onto his scratchpad, including the mark of the toy company that makes Daniel Bautista's stuffed animals, and he resolves to fix the omission. Symbology matters to the mudskippers, therefore it matters to the crawl and to the floors ahead; the fourth floor proved they need to pay attention to that kind of thing.
