Invisible pack hunters that scream as they charge and paralyze what they bite.
The Night Weasels hit Carl's party a second time on the trail home, and this time the party knows what is coming. Princess Donut feels them first — mobs coming in fast — and Clint Smashgrab confirms it: invisible, on the ground, coming in hot. According to him they are everywhere in this stretch of jungle, they hunt in packs, and they are easy enough to kill if you know they are coming. Sometimes they are under the control of an outworlder hunter; sometimes the High Elves use them; this particular pack is wild, affiliated with neither.
Unlike the earlier encounter, they attack all together, sweeping in from three sides at once and screaming — which Carl finds especially horrible because he cannot see them. Their bite carries the paralysis effect that took him down before, though the Were-Castors shrug it off entirely and can track the weasels by sound and smell regardless of invisibility. Damage briefly reveals them, and Mongo's Earthquake attack reveals the whole grounded pack at once. Between the two beavermen's mace and sickle sword, Donut's Magic Missiles, Carl's kicks, Fear and a Banger Sphere, the pack is torn apart quickly. Clint and Holger absorb dozens of bites and barely lose health.
Weasel-shaped pack predators that remain wholly invisible until damaged, announced only by a chorus of screams closing in through the underbrush.
Recurring ambush predator of the jungle floor, used as attack animals by hunters and elves alike, and the obstacle on the party's last leg home.
