Shrine of Emberus

the Emberus shrine

A bubbling shrine in the saferoom that takes a drop of blood each time Carl passes and is close to paying out.

Story so far

On his way to the bedroom at the end of the chapter, Carl passes the bubbling Shrine of Emberus and pauses long enough to add a drop of blood, noting that he will soon get his first boon. It is a small, habitual gesture in a chapter otherwise consumed by a corporate coup — a slow investment quietly maturing while everything else destabilises.

The shrine sits in the Saferoom between the main room and the bedroom, bubbling away, feeding on offerings from the crawler who installed it.

Appearance

A small shrine set in the saferoom, its contents perpetually bubbling, fed by drops of blood from anyone passing.

Role

Carl's devotional investment in a god, one drop of blood at a time, now nearly at its first return.
