character

Emberus

the fire god

Carl's patron fire god, granting a nearly useless thirty-hour boon because Carl possesses no qualifying fire spell.

Story so far

Emberus completes Carl's first boon: fifty-percent additional damage to fire spells for thirty hours. Carl has no qualifying fire magic beyond a chance to inflict Burn, which the system excludes, making the nominal divine reward worthless.

Mordecai had warned that boons resemble low-tier loot boxes—usually poor, with occasional exceptional results.

Appearance

Emberus does not manifest during the boon notification.

Role

The god's dud boon demonstrates the unreliable value of divine rewards.

Relationships

Carl — He grants Carl a fire-damage buff the crawler cannot meaningfully use.
Mordecai — Mordecai correctly predicted that many boons would be disappointing.
