Art

Perihelion · Asshole Research Transport · Peri · ART-drone · ART-prime

ART begins drive repair, watches the colony transition to safety, and receives Murderbot's freely chosen commitment to travel onward together.

Story so far

Perihelion survived alien-remnant seizure, recovered its crew, and remained trapped in-system by contamination in its wormhole drive. Its drone iteration helped discover the polar settlement, create Murderbot's Documentary, and defeat Barish-Estranza's attempted abduction before safely handing its memories back to the ship.

With Holism and its support ships present, ART no longer bears the system's defense alone. A temporary station module docks to it while university crews and bots decontaminate and repair the wormhole drive. ART manages evacuation timing, competes with Holism through exquisitely correct protocol, resents the other intelligence's persistent interest in Murderbot, and continues offering Murderbot a trauma-recovery file it has not opened. As the colony becomes secure enough for ART eventually to leave, Murderbot asks where they are going next—confirming the trial partnership as a chosen future.

Appearance

A massive black research transport with a long angular hull, powerful engines, module docks, sensor arrays, drones, concealed weapons, and a wormhole drive enclosed by a docked temporary station module for decontamination and repair.

Role

ART is Murderbot's homeward-pointing chosen vessel and the university's recovering research transport, preparing to resume travel once its drive and obligations are complete.

Relationships

Murderbot — Murderbot chooses ART's next mission and asks for its destination, giving ART the commitment it wanted without any claim of ownership.
Holism — Holism is ART's rival intelligence and indispensable repair ally, provoking a passive-aggressive protocol contest.
Three — Three lives aboard ART while exploring educational interests and an undecided future.
