Mission's Mother

Mission’s mother hid an unintended pregnancy and was sent out to clean after his birth; he remembers her death as an undeserved sacrifice.

Story so far

Mission’s mother became pregnant after her contraceptive implant failed and concealed the pregnancy until the termination period permitted by The Pact had passed. After giving birth to Mission Jones, she was sent outside to clean. Her death occurred seventeen years before his approaching seventeenth birthday, and he recalls that she was sent away on that day.

Wyck says he attended school with her. Mission remembers her carrying the pregnancy without anyone to confide in or support her. He associates her absence with the cost of his birth and regards her death in giving him life as a sacrifice he can never deserve.
