Eo's fragile sister and Loran's wife, keeper of Eo's final secret.
Dio is Eo's sister, her near-twin in looks though not birth, and the wife of Loran. Where Eo is fire, Dio is fragile and easily broken. At the gallows Eo calls not for Darrow but for Dio, whispering a final secret that leaves Dio moaning and clinging senselessly to her sister's feet until the Grays stun and drag her away.
Later, at Darrow's own hanging, he asks her Eo's true last words; she falters, glances at his mother, and answers only that Eo said she loved him, plainly concealing something more.
Resembles Eo closely in her rust-red coloring, but frailer and more fragile; bloodshot, swollen eyes after her sister's death.
Eo's sister and Loran's wife; entrusted with Eo's hidden last words.
