Narol

Uncle Narol

Darrow's drunken uncle, a longtime Sons of Ares informer who kept his gifted nephew hidden from the movement.

Story so far

Dancer fills in what Narol's drunkard's mask hid: he has been an informer for the Sons-of-Ares since before his brother — Darrow's father — was hanged, feeding them intelligence and finding "outliers" in the mines. Yet he kept Darrow himself a secret for years, telling the Sons of him only late, then used a jammer they gave him to kill the Pot's ancient cameras, drug and gently hang his nephew, and pull him alive from the noose "the work of a ghost." Dancer scorns him as a mere useful drunk, but the truth reframes Narol entirely: not the weak, bitter sot Darrow always judged him, but a patient rebel who shielded and then delivered his nephew into the cause, whispering "Break the chains."

Appearance

Thirty-five but ghostly, pale and tired, thick gray-streaked hair, a scar twisting his upper lip, coarse-bearded; ever with a flask in hand.

Role

Darrow's uncle; a long-serving Sons of Ares informer who guarded and then delivered him.
