The flawless Premier and peerless duelist, killed in the Passage by fists — a death even the Board did not intend.
Perfect Priam the Premier, heir to Mars's two moons and reputedly the First Sword in the Solar System for his birthyear, does not survive the Passage. A duelist without peer, he was undone with bare hands: knocked to the stone and his trachea stomped until he died, slowly. Fitchner holds him up as the lesson of the Culling — brilliant, beautiful, and studied day and night by a dozen tutors, but pampered, and so killed by someone the Proctor will not name.
His death was the Board's error, not its design, and Darrow reckons Priam's powerful moon-owning mother will raise hell over the loss of a son never meant to die.
A statue-perfect young Gold, tall and broad-shouldered, flawless celestial face, alert golden eyes, immaculately coiffed golden hair. (In life, before the Passage.)
The peerless young duelist killed in the Passage; a Board mistake with dangerous repercussions.
