Mars

the red planet

The terraformed red planet of a thousand Gold-ruled cities and a hundred thousand hidden Red mines, seat of the ArchGovernor.

Story so far

Seen whole from the air and in virtual tours, Mars is far more than the barren surface the Reds are shown. Terraforming has scarred its red face with ribbons of green in the valleys and around the equator; water fills its impact craters as great lakes, and the northern Borealis basin brims with fresh seas of bizarre marine life. Storms and ice rule the poles, where the Obsidians train in brutal cold.

A thousand cities dot the planet, each ruled by a Governor over a hundred mining colonies run day-to-day by MineMagistrates like Timony-cu-Podginus, all presided over by ArchGovernor Nero-au-Augustus, whose citadel stands in Agea within the Valles Marineris, the largest canyon in the Solar System. It was mere chance that brought the ArchGovernor's camera crew to Lykos and made an example of Darrow, with Eo an afterthought.

Appearance

A terraformed red planet streaked with green valleys and equatorial vegetation, crater-lakes and a great northern sea, ice-bound poles, dust-devil plains, and a thousand domed and open cities above hidden mines.

Role

The terraformed planet whose Gold cities crown the hidden Red mines; the story's world.
