Laconian Orbital Platform

Orbital construction platform · Alien orbital platform · Orbiting construction platforms · Alien orbital arrays

Laconia's alien shipyard now grows fleets whose self-healing geometry combines human weapons with design choices inherited from the dead.

Story so far

The Laconian orbital platform is a gigantic skeletal alien array above Laconia, usable through the Protomolecule's partial compatibility with gate-builder machinery. It has produced more than one hundred Laconian ships and a new generation of warships that are grown rather than conventionally assembled.

Its greatest products are three Magnetar-class battle cruisers. The completed Heart of the Tempest and Eye of the Typhoon carry self-healing skin over hidden human weapons, while the Voice of the Whirlwind is still growing among the platform's spars. The designs feel only partly human, preserving fractal geometry, asymmetry, and internal choices whose alien reasons cannot be recovered.

Appearance

A vast skeletal orbital array of long spars, limbs, and empty spaces, holding unfinished pale warships as they grow within its ancient construction framework.

Role

The platform is the industrial source of Laconia's qualitative military advantage and the dead collaborator shaping every ship it produces.

Relationships

Heart of the Tempest — The Heart of the Tempest is the first completed and deployed example of the platform's Magnetar-class work.
Voice of the Whirlwind — The Voice of the Whirlwind remains visibly under construction within the array.
Protomolecule — The Protomolecule allows Laconian engineers to communicate sufficiently with the platform to direct its production.
