Eye of the Typhoon

Typhoon · Magnetar-class battle cruiser · Rear Admiral Song's ship · Medina defense ship · Second Tempest

The Typhoon reaches the Laconia gate but holds outside until Overstreet certifies Medina's traffic and security after the underground's successful escape.

Story so far

The Eye of the Typhoon has approached as the deadline that drives the underground's escape and the permanent Magnetar guard intended to make Medina unassailable. The uprising ends before it arrives, scattering twenty ships through unknown gates and stealing the Gathering Storm.

Rear Admiral Jae-Eun Song refuses to assume transit is safe after such a failure. The Typhoon matches orbit with the Laconia gate while Singh consults Overstreet about possible gate interference. A complete technical audit concludes that the underground exhausted its local resources and left no known ships positioned to manipulate the safety curve. The ship remains outside pending final assurance, its delayed arrival demonstrating that even Laconia's overwhelming reinforcement depends on confidence in Medina's control.

Appearance

A colossal bone-pale Magnetar-class cruiser holding in matched orbit outside the Laconia ring, its alien-grown mass poised for transit but waiting on security confirmation.

Role

The Typhoon is the incoming permanent guard whose caution measures the depth of Singh's lost credibility.

Major Overstreet — Major Overstreet audits the station and certifies that its passage is as safe as imperfect knowledge permits.
