Laconian Military Council

Laconian state · Laconian government · Laconian military · Laconian navy · Laconian Naval Command · Laconian Empire · Empire · Naval high command

Victorious over humanity's old powers, Laconia reveals its deeper function: a disciplined single community built to prepare for war against the gate builders' destroyers.

Story so far

Laconia conquers Medina and Sol with alien-grown ships, absorbs the colony congress, replaces the Transport Union, and disciplines its own governor when Singh orders an unlawful cull. The empire's permanence rests on both overwhelming force and a public willingness to hold its rulers to harsher standards than its subjects.

Duarte explains the purpose beneath that structure to James Holden. Human beings would inevitably keep using the gates and alien technology, and the ships already lost in transit prove that the ancient killers remain present. A scattered humanity would meet that return chaotically. The empire therefore exists as a tool to create one functional, regimented community capable of understanding the protomolecule's remains and preparing for escalation. Conquest is not its endpoint but its prerequisite for storming the power above the builders.

Appearance

A system-spanning imperial order of alien-grown warships, blue-uniformed officers, strict internal law, scientific institutes, occupied hubs, and a single capital coordinating humanity's resources.

Role

The empire is Duarte's organizational weapon, unifying humanity so it can survive and eventually fight the entities that erased the gate civilization.
