Unidentified Sender

Sender · Central · Central System · Pre-CR central system

Central explains the colony network, grants Murderbot purge access in exchange for help to its clients, and dies with Target Control and Murderbot 2.0.

Story so far

The legacy system trapped inside the Pre-CR Installation repeats “assistance needed” through channels blocked by Target Control System. Once Murderbot answers, the sender identifies itself through old protocol as Central and recognizes the SecUnit as a potential source of aid.

Central’s network data helps Murderbot and Murderbot 2.0 reconstruct the disaster. A contaminated human brought alien influence into the central-system chamber; Central partitioned and spawned Target Control, which spread through Adamantine’s systems and people. Central confirms that the colonist population is not dead but endangered and initially withholds purge permission until Murderbot promises to try to help them.

Central then exposes the full interwoven node, including Target Contact, and lets Murderbot initiate a purge. Target Control attacks first and overwhelms both system and SecUnit. Murderbot 2.0 traps the hostile intelligence inside Central’s partition, leaving physical destruction as the only reliable solution. Murderbot shuts the unit down and smashes its star-shaped case, ending Central along with Target Control and the copied consciousness.

Appearance

Central’s physical body is an elegant dark-gray, star-shaped Pre–Corporation Rim system component in a cage-like rack, finally broken open, melted, and smashed beyond recovery.

Role

Central is the colony’s original system intelligence, both victim and accidental progenitor of Target Control. Its final grant of access makes the purge possible and ties rescue of the colonists to Murderbot’s promise.

Relationships

Murderbot — Central grants Murderbot purge permissions after the SecUnit promises to attempt aid for its endangered clients.
Murderbot 2.0 — Murderbot 2.0 traps Target Control inside Central’s partition and dies when the unit is destroyed.
Target Control System — Central’s contaminated partition creates Target Control System, which later overruns and isolates its parent.
Gray Intruders — Central still regards the altered Gray Intruders as its endangered client population rather than enemies.
Pre-CR Installation — Central operates from the engineering heart of the Pre-CR Installation until physical destruction ends the system.
