The colony’s silent lift terminal hides ART’s five fugitives amid a civil battle, then becomes the site of Murderbot’s catastrophic last stand.
The Surface Dock surrounds the base of the colony lift shaft in a broad oval of sandy manufactured stone and metal girders. A maintenance-capsule lobby opens into dusty workshops, high corridors, exterior balconies, and an enormous drop-box arrival chamber. The nearby lake, engineered crops, agricultural bots, and well-kept but empty human-compatible complex make the site feel maintained without ordinary habitation.
More than a hundred altered colonists from opposing factions fight through the arrival hall and eastern corridors with improvised projectile weapons. Iris, Seth, Kaede, Tarik, and Matteo shelter behind the lift-pod lobby after their drop box triggers the battle. Murderbot’s team reaches them through the forgotten maintenance capsule.
Overse’s poppers and two agricultural bots create an escape window, but hostile control seizes the bots and cuts Murderbot’s drone network. The university crew and Thiago flee toward the capsule while Murderbot disables a pursuing machine and is pinned beneath it. Armed colonists converge and shoot the SecUnit into forced shutdown before the extraction’s final outcome can be seen.
A vast dim terminal of sandy artificial stone, arched girders, lift-pod galleries, a sealed drop-box bay, and exterior balconies above a lake and green crop fields, now scarred by gunfire and strewn with altered combatants.
The surface dock is the collision point between the crew’s escape, the colony’s factional war, and the rescue team’s arrival. Its corridors provide a route out but no lasting sanctuary.
