Barish Estranza Explorer

Barish-Estranza explorer · explorer · corporate explorer · captured explorer · prison ship

The occupied explorer loses its seven prisoners to a freed SecUnit before a trapped targeting lock splits its already failing hull.

Story so far

The Barish-Estranza Explorer is seized after its contact party returns from the colony under hostile control. Most crew members and SecUnit 1 are killed, SecUnits 2 and 3 are ordered to stand down, and ART’s eight university crew members are taken aboard. A failed attempt to attach alien material leaves the explorer unable to traverse wormholes, while Target Control System replaces its deleted bot pilot and turns the ship into a prison.

Murderbot 2.0 infiltrates the ruined SecSystem and launches a distributed attack when discovered. It cuts seven lethal implant connections, destroys the hostile drones, manipulates hatches and life support, and diverts the system’s defenses while newly freed SecUnit 3 moves Turi, Karime, Martyn, and four surviving Barish-Estranza employees into a shuttle. The copy transfers into the module dock long enough to seal and jettison them.

Target Control destroys SecSystem and retains control of the vessel, but the apparent victory is hollow. When the explorer attempts to target the escaping shuttle, Murderbot 2.0’s planted weapons code detonates and splits the hull, leaving the occupied ship catastrophically damaged as the copy follows an enemy connection toward the planet.

Appearance

An armed corporate exploration vessel with scarred bulkheads, dead crew compartments, a deleted bot pilot, failed puffy alien growth beside damaged engines, and a hull now split by an internal weapons-system explosion.

Role

The explorer is a collapsing prison ship and cyberwar battlefield. Its hostages escape, but the compromised vessel and whatever remains of Target Control are left behind in a catastrophic hull breach.

Relationships

SecUnit 3 — Freed SecUnit 3 escorts every surviving prisoner from the explorer and departs in its shuttle.
Murderbot 2.0 — Murderbot 2.0 sacrifices the explorer’s systems, frees the captives, and rigs its weapons to break the hull when it fires.
Target Control System — Target Control System retains the ship after destroying SecSystem but cannot preserve its prisoners or structural integrity.
ART Crew — The last three captive members of the ART Crew escape the explorer with four corporate survivors.
Gray Intruders — The remaining Gray Intruders defend the occupied corridors and attempt to destroy the fleeing shuttle.
