Sakai

new Sam

Tycho's chief engineer is exposed as a militant who sees Fred's OPA leadership as an Earth-born betrayal of the Belt.

Story so far

Sakai initially appears as the abrasive but capable engineer repairing the Rocinante. During Fred Johnson's staged interrogation about Monica's abduction, he stops pretending loyalty and erupts with contempt for Earthers who claim to save Belters.

Sakai identifies himself with an extremist conviction that the Belt must save itself and make the Inner planets pay. Fred takes the outburst as proof that the militant faction has reached Tycho, has Sakai beaten, isolated, and subjected to a complete communications and activity audit. Sakai's exact part in Monica's abduction and the missing ships remains unestablished.

Appearance

A sour-faced adult man with a focused, unsmiling expression; rage pulls his face into open hatred in the Tycho interrogation room.

Role

Sakai is the compromised Tycho engineer whose open extremism confirms an internal threat to Fred's organization.
