Augustin Gamarra

Gamarra

A Ceres transport destroyed by sabotaged fusion containment, leaving 234 dead and Naomi unknowingly implicated in Marco's first declared crime.

Story so far

The Augustín Gamarra departed Ceres for a Coalition Navy research station on Oshima carrying organics and hydroponic equipment. Ten hours into a low-g burn, its magnetic bottle failed, releasing the fusion core and erasing all 234 people aboard. The official investigation remained unresolved between accident and sabotage.

Naomi Nagata now remembers the truth: Marco used a software override she had designed while doing seemingly harmless technical work after Filip's birth. He celebrated the destruction as vengeance for Terryon Lock and called it the first of many perfect crimes, making Naomi's unwitting work part of the atrocity.

Appearance

A transport ship seen only in memory and report: a Ceres-to-Oshima vessel whose fusion-core failure made it briefly as bright as the sun before no wreckage remained.

Role

The Gamarra is the foundational crime that explains Naomi's guilt, Marco's methods, and the collapse of their family.

Relationships

Naomi Nagata — Naomi Nagata wrote the test code Marco repurposed to cause the Gamarra's fatal containment failure.
Marco Inaros — Marco Inaros treats the Gamarra's destruction as a successful political murder rather than an accident.
Filip Inaros — Filip Inaros was eight months old when the Gamarra was destroyed, during the period when Marco's coercion of Naomi hardened.
