Filip Inaros leads a small, covert Belter strike team against the Martian side of the Callisto shipyards. Their darkened suits, passive communications, sabotaged meteor defenses, and a ship's precisely timed tungsten strikes give them a brief window to raid the military depot. Filip finds the canisters of high-density resonance coating his team came for: stealth technology taken from Mars.
He proves decisive and frighteningly willing to calculate with other people's lives. When the escape scaffold needs attention and a separate team is trapped at the armory, he chooses the stolen coating and the scheduled launch over rescuing Andrew and Chuchu, apologizing to Andrew only after leaving him to die. The authority his team grants him because of his unnamed father fills him with pride rather than doubt.
