Attica

the Jackal's fortress

The Jackal's seven-peaked mountain citadel on Mars, its splendid halls raised above a prison where the Reaper was boxed in stone.

Story so far

Attica is the mountain fortress-city that serves as The Jackal's seat as ArchGovernor of Mars. Seven mountain peaks glitter with metal-and-glass towers sutured by bridges above stone and snow, and its marble halls house galleries of stolen artifacts—Hancock's declaration, the preserved head of the last American ruler. Beneath the splendor lies a government prison run by the Board of Quality Control, where Darrow was imprisoned for nine months in a hollowed stone banquet table and Victra tortured with light and sound.

When Holiday and Trigg free them, an illegal EMP plunges the whole citadel into darkness, ships falling dead from the sky, as they fight to a landing platform on the mountain's thousand-meter face.

Appearance

Six of seven glittering mountain peaks crowned with metal-and-glass buildings and bridges over snow and stone; marble halls above, concrete prison levels and processing rooms below; icy landing platforms on sheer mountain faces.

Role

The Jackal's fortress-capital on Mars and the site of Darrow's imprisonment and dramatic escape.

Relationships

The Jackal — Its master, who rules Mars from its heights and boxed the Reaper beneath its dining hall.
Darrow — Its most infamous prisoner, boxed in stone for a year before escaping across its icy heights.
