Dustwalkers
Gaia's silent gray-armored retainers move through Io unseen, listening to the shrine meeting and surrounding Darrow and Diomedes at the Archimedes warehouse.
Story so far
The Dustwalkers are Gaia's elite, stealth-trained retainers, recognizable here by their gray armor and cat-quiet movement. They pass through a Gray cordon without challenge, plant or exploit a ladybug-sized listening device, and hear enough of the private shrine meeting to act independently of Diomedes's controlled plan.
At the grain warehouse where the Archimedes waits, a dozen Dustwalkers drop from the ceiling around Darrow and Diomedes while more take positions outside. One has a blade at Darrow's throat before either commander can react. Their appearance proves that Gaia has assets and intentions beyond the gratitude she displayed before Lysander, and that the fragile negotiation is no longer private.
Appearance
Silent figures in storm-gray armor and cloaks, descending from shadows with razors drawn and moving more quietly than cats.
Role
The Dustwalkers are Gaia's covert instrument, able to observe and seize control of a situation before the larger armies realize anything has changed.
