Story so far
The Darkstar Conservatory is a black spherical naval academy founded by Orion in Mars's southern mountains. Its motto, “As Above, So Below,” reflects a curriculum meant to produce the Republic's next generation of ripWing pilots, destroyer captains, and torchShip specialists. Its graduates already reinforce fleets struggling against Gold command superiority.
The school demands that recruits, particularly non-Blues, be cut away from their prior families so that their sect becomes their primary loyalty. This discipline keeps Virginia au Augustus from seeing her son Pax except by extraordinary privilege. Six months within it have made Pax an accelerated hunter-track adept, showing both the institution's effectiveness and the personal cost at which it makes weapons for a besieged Republic.

A perfect black sphere perched in snowy southern Martian mountains, its stark facade bearing huge iron letters beneath snapping banners marked with a blue trident piercing a cracking golden planet.
Role
The Conservatory is the Republic's elite naval forge and the place where Pax's private childhood yields to the public work of war.
