Anderson Dawes

Dawes · Ceres liaison for the Outer Planets Alliance

The OPA's Ceres liaison, who uses Holden's survival to prove that Miller is no longer needed on the Scopuli investigation.

Story so far

Anderson Dawes joins Captain Shaddid in removing Miller from Julie Mao's case as Mars publicly blames the Belt for the Donnager's destruction. He presents the OPA's position as practical rather than evasive: Julie Mao and the Scopuli were OPA-connected, the crisis lies beyond Star Helix's jurisdiction, and a private Ceres detective has no safe or legal path to chase it through enemy territory.

When Miller insists the OPA could have engineered the escalating attacks, Dawes rejects the idea that his scattered movement commands cloaked Martian warships or the force that killed the Donnager. He reveals that James Holden and his crew are alive and in, or approaching, OPA custody, giving the organization access to the witnesses Miller wanted. The disclosure is a calculated rebuke: Dawes can promise a larger investigation while making Miller's personal search look redundant and dangerous.

Appearance

Dawes is a tall, thin Belter with acne-pocked cheeks, an educated accent, and serene deliberate movements. He wears the OPA split-circle armband and carries himself with controlled political warmth.

Role

Dawes is an OPA operator consolidating access to the Scopuli's witnesses while pushing Miller out of the investigation.

Relationships

Miller — Dawes tells Miller the OPA has Holden and the reach to investigate Julie and the Scopuli without him.
James Holden — Dawes says the OPA has, or will soon have, Holden and his crew in its custody.
Shaddid — Shaddid and Dawes jointly argue that the Mao inquiry exceeds Star Helix's place in a system-wide war.
