Archimedes

The Archimedes · the Archi

Cassius's aging Whisper-class corvette; the wandering home of Lysander, Cassius, and Pytha.

Story so far

The Archimedes is an old fifty-meter Whisper-class corvette of the once-great Ganymede Dockyards, shaped like a reared cobra's head, with three guns and engines swift enough to run from Mars to the Belt in under four weeks. A century past her prime, she is Cassius's ship and, for ten years, the roving home of him, Lysander, and their pilot Pytha. Her military fittings have been stripped for warm lighting, an Andalusian rug, incense, and console gardens; her hull is a map of beloved scars from a life aboard.

Built for scouting and raids, she carries the three of them through the Asteroid Belt as they patrol its fringes and, in the Gulf, shelters near an asteroid to shadow the derelict Vindabona.

Appearance

A fifty-meter cobra-headed Whisper-class corvette, old and rust-patched, her interior warmly refitted with rugs, plants, incense, and a hundred small scars of habitation.

Role

Lysander and Cassius's ship and home; the vessel that carries their exile through the Belt.

Relationships

Cassius — Her captain and owner, who has kept her flying for a decade.
Lysander — The boy who grew up scrubbing her hull and calls her scars home.
Pytha — Her pilot, whose decals and mug have made the ship half her own.
