Diomedes

Diomedes au Raa · The Storm Knight · The Sword of Io

The honorable Storm Knight who takes custody of the dying Cassius, stands vigil, and rides to reclaim his desecrated body—barely raising his hand for war.

Story so far

When Dido moves to seize the fallen Cassius, Diomedes au Raa steps in: the Olympic Order will take custody, so that if the Morning Knight dies it will not be by Raa hands. He escorts Lysander to safety and, though he cannot free him, promises to stand vigil over Cassius himself and send word—his first show of respect to the Lune heir, noting pointedly that if Cassius dies, Lysander will be free, and asking to what he will then be bound. As his mother reveals the Ganymede evidence and the Olympic Knights roar for war, Diomedes only barely lifts his hand, unwilling in his heart.

When Cassius dies and schoolmates of the slain Bellerephon steal the body to desecrate it in the Waste, Diomedes rides out to pursue them—honoring in death the enemy he refused to murder in life.

Appearance

A Peerless-Scarred Gold in his mid-twenties, pale and beardless, shoulder-length white-gold hair streaked black, brooding eyes, large lips, a scarred face missing its left ear; in earth-toned Ionian robes.

Role

The Rim's Storm Knight; the incorruptible guardian of guest-law who shields the dying Cassius and hunts his defilers.
