Cyra si Lamensis, the sour Terran-Green hacker on Ephraim's crew, is revealed as the traitor in their midst: greedy to become a Syndicate thorn, she went to Gorgo of her own volition and sold Ephraim out—every drink, every plan, and the truth about Lyria and Kobachi's drone. Dragged brutalized before the Duke of Hands at the highrise handoff, her face one great contusion, she can only beg. The Duke hands her fate to the wronged Ephraim; when he asks only that she be let go, Gorgo instead hurls her off the edge of the tower to her death—her screams for Ephraim unanswered, her body a distant pile fifty stories below.
Ephraim, too tired to hate her, does nothing, but privately marks that a debt is now owed. Dead.
