Nessus

The Nessus

Quicksilver's stolen snow-white Xiphos-class Venusian frigate, a stealthy luxury warship Darrow uses to slip toward Venus.

Story so far

The Nessus is a hundred-meter Xiphos-class Society frigate of war, one of the sleek new Core capital ships that outclass even Victra and Quicksilver's Phobos shipyards. Quicksilver's men captured her two years ago after a Gold raid damaged her near Mercury, and rather than surrender her to the Republic Navy, Quicksilver won her under salvage law and retrofitted her as his personal interplanetary shuttle—her military austerity replaced by walnut, oak, a pool and sauna, holoprojector staterooms, and holds stocked with Venusian luxuries. Painted snow-white and crested with Quicksilver's winged-heel sigil, her advanced stealth hull hides her from orbital scanners.

Darrow takes her (loaned for 'nothing') as the key to reaching blockaded Venus: her luxury holds are bait for Apollonius's appetite-driven brother Tharsus, her stealth and speed the means to slip past the Society's naval might. From Baffin Island she carries Darrow, the Howlers, and their caged war criminals off Earth and out toward the war.

Appearance

A hundred-meter frigate with some of the prettiest lines ever to dart between spheres, painted snow-white bow to stern, crested port and starboard with Quicksilver's winged heel; inside, a retrofitted luxury of walnut and oak, holoprojector suites, a pool, a sauna, and richly stocked holds.

Role

Darrow's stealthy stolen warship; the luxurious, fast frigate bearing the Howlers and their prisoners toward Venus.
