Bellerephon

Bellerephon au Raa · Bellerephon the Bold

Atlas's boastful son and Shadowfall shade, who duels Cassius in the Bleeding Place—and dies with honor when the Morning Knight takes both his arms.

Story so far

Bellerephon au Raa—'the Bold,' son of Atlas au Raa and a Shadowfall shade of the Rim's razormasters—fights Cassius in the Bleeding Place to avenge his grandfather Revus and cousin Thesalia. Boasting he will feed Cassius's corpse to his hounds and jar his eyes, he opens with the scorpion-stanced Shadowfall, his three-meter hasta whip flaying Cassius's scalp and shoulder and driving the bleeding Morning Knight to his knees. But when Cassius's aegis fails at the perfect moment, Bellerephon over-commits; Cassius springs the Snapping Branch gambit, cleaves through both his arms, and offers to spare him if Dido agrees to terms.

Dido refuses, and Bellerephon, honoring the old ways—'Pulvis et umbra sumus,' calling on Akari to witness—kneels erect through sheer discipline and lets Cassius behead him. Dead.

Appearance

A towering young Gold resembling Romulus, with thick caterpillar eyebrows, a hooked-nose face and a mantis-like frame, an iron fist in his armor's sternum; wielding a three-meter hasta in the Shadowfall stance before losing both arms.
