Orion

Orion xe Aquarius

The Pax's brilliant Blue captain, a Phobos dock-child whose bottom-up sharpness sees more than Golds expect.

Story so far

Orion commands the Pax as Darrow's armada gathers, and reveals her depths on the command deck. Born on the Phobos docks outside the Copernican Sects, daughter of a Docker who died when she was small, she learned to notice everything to survive the monsters of the Hive dock cities. When she sharply warns Darrow he 'overstepped' in floating the idea of Ragnar leading absent a Gold, Darrow marvels that a Blue reads the room so well; she answers that awareness comes from working the bottom.

When he suggests she could have become a monster to beat the monsters, she counters with the beauty of space—'a billion paths to choose.' Fierce, watchful, and lowborn-proud, she steers Darrow toward the rendezvous at Hildas Station.

Appearance

A squat, plump, dark-skinned Blue, bald with azure digital tattoos of physics equations across scalp, neck, and hands; arctic, intelligent eyes.

Role

Captain of the Pax; a brilliant lowborn Blue whose dock-honed insight rivals any Gold's.

Relationships

Darrow — Her commander, whom she reads sharply and warns when he oversteps with the Golds.
The Pax — The flagship she captains, steering the gathering armada toward Mars.
Ragnar Volarus — Whose potential command she recognizes as a line Darrow crosses too soon among Golds.
