JollyBaby shields Murderbot from the exposed CombatBot and leads Preservation’s machines in a wordless collective stand.
JollyBaby is a five-meter cargo hauler with a joking shared nickname and a private social connection to the station’s bot network. It helps search the Merchant Docks and supplies the cargo-bot records that ultimately show Lutran’s assigned module hauler was redirected.
When Murderbot and Balin crash onto the Public Dock floor, JollyBaby places a massive scoop-like hand between them. It tells Murderbot that Balin is off the network and that an intruder destroyed Balin, interpreting the newly exposed CombatBot function as a separate killer occupying a colleague’s body. Surrounded by cargo bots, medical bots, general-purpose bots, and Tellus, JollyBaby waits without threat or noise. Its presence makes clear that the CombatBot cannot continue without fighting the whole station community, prompting Balin’s shutdown.
A five-meter-tall cargo bot with a heavy crouched frame, massive scoop-like lifting hands, industrial joints, and the imposing look of mobile mining-shaft machinery.
JollyBaby becomes the bot community’s physical shield and moral center, treating Balin’s violent corporate programming as an intruder to be refused collectively.
