Story so far
The Preservation transit ring is a modest passenger-and-cargo port with public and Merchant Dock entrances, sparse surveillance, weapons scanners, cargo bots, and comfortable public waiting areas. The council closes it after Lutran’s body is discovered, while the armed responder prevents ships from leaving. Murderbot traces Lutran to a docked Corporation Rim cargo hauler through public transport connections.
The embarkation floor now becomes a major crime scene. The hauler’s lounge holds Lutran’s blood and travel bag, but its systems are too damaged to provide records. Camera footage shows Lutran entering alone, followed later by a large delivery cart that removes the hidden killer and corpse. An unknown jamming tool creates flawless false surveillance without compromising the underlying station system. Preservation Station Security holds off free repairs under the Alliance’s traveler-aid rules until every trace is documented.
Appearance
A modest orbital port with mosaic floors, planted waiting areas, conical wooden kiosks, ramps, weapons scanners, cameras, cargo bots, and transport locks now crowded by forensic and repair teams.
Role
The transit ring is the locked field of evidence whose own surveillance has been used to conceal an impossible entrance and an obvious escape.
