Preservation leader and Murderbot's rescuer, now accused of espionage by GrayCris and vanished into hostile corporate territory.
Dr. Mensah, the elected planetary leader who bought Murderbot's contract and offered it a home, is off-page but at the center of book four's crisis. According to the newsfeeds Murderbot combs on HaveRatton Station, GrayCris has accused her of corporate espionage, and while her PreservationAux colleagues Arada, Overse, Bharadwaj, and Volescu departed for home some thirty cycles earlier, Mensah did not follow. Instead she has reportedly gone to TranRollinHyfa—a major corporate hub where GrayCris and hundreds of other companies are headquartered—supposedly to answer GrayCris's litigation.
Murderbot, who knows she would never willingly enter enemy territory without the expensive protection of a company gunship, concludes she has been tricked, trapped, or forced there. Her disappearance transforms Murderbot's careful plan of quietly leaving evidence into a rescue.
