An RCE driver on Ilus killed by a death-slug that crawled into his boot unseen — another victim of the blinding colony's deadliest hazard.
Paulson was one of Adolphus Murtry's RCE drivers on Ilus, part of the team doing the salvage and supply-recovery work in the ruined colony. As the blindness plague robbed everyone of their sight, a neurotoxic death-slug crawled into his boot without anyone noticing, and its slime killed him. Murtry reports the death to Holden flatly — a 'stupid mistake' and a matter of 'reduced team strength,' not sympathy.
Paulson is one more casualty of the death-slugs that make every unseen surface lethal in the sightless camp.
