Jelly Bomb

landmine

Carl's homemade naval-style contact landmine — a spiked, hob-lobber-stuffed tube that derails trains, cribbed from the Cookbook.

Story so far

The Jelly Bomb is Carl's first purpose-built train-wrecker: a tire-sized cross-section of an early-20th-century naval spike contact mine, an oblong metal tube packed with fused hob-lobbers plus a stick of hobgoblin dynamite, its upper shell scored into triangles for shrapnel. When a train depresses one of its spike plungers, an impact-detonated hob-lobber shreds the whole device. Carl got the plunger idea from The-Dungeon-Anarchists-Cookbook (building the triggers from a 'Gorgon Marital aid') and tweaked it enough to appear self-invented — so the system doesn't credit him and dubs it a 'Jelly Bomb' (after a jelly donut).

Two of them, set on the Station-149 ochre-line track, successfully derail Gore-Gore's train in a chain of crashes.

Appearance

A tire-sized, oblong metal tube studded with contact-spike plungers, its top half scored into triangular shrapnel segments — like a sectioned naval mine.

Role

Carl's Cookbook-derived derailment charge, the tool that cracks open the engine-car mystery.
