Asked what the champion-fallen bounty notification meant, Carl shrugged it off with a guess: it was probably that shepherd killing the goat because he wouldn't shut up. It is a throwaway explanation offered in place of real information, and Carl freely admitted he was too tired to care which champion had actually died.
