The circus's fortified sideshow encampment of tents, cages, and mortar-casting cauldrons, ringed for battle.
Grimaldi's World O' Freaks is the sideshow heart of Grimaldi's Traveling Circus — a fortified encampment of three massive big-top tents, wagons, and cages, ringed by a five-foot battlement of rock, wood, and bones. A faded sign ('Admission One Gold Coin. No children or those with weak constitutions allowed') advertises attractions like the Over City's Strongest Citizen, the Over City's Fattest Woman, Garth the Two-Headed Troglodyte, Tiny the fire-breathing Gnoll, and the defaced traitor poster of Tsarina Signet.
Watching from a ruined building, Carl and Princess Donut saw the circus fortifying for battle — draping animal skins, laying barbed-wire trench defenses, wheeling out beast cages, and setting up robed cauldron-casters who fire whistling magical mortars. At nightfall the sentries withdrew, the camp lit up like a holiday display, and the cages were thrown open.
Three glowing big-top tents amid smaller tents, wagons, and painted red-and-yellow beast cages, ringed by a five-foot battlement of rock, wood, and bones and barbed-wire trenches; by night, ablaze with fires and searchlights.
The circus stronghold and the objective of Carl's quest; the source of the mortar siege.
